Things to Do on Your Dog friendly Holiday Cottage Break in Anglesey.

One of the best things about our Anglesey holiday cottage, The Old Post Office at Bull Bay, is the fact that we are dog friendly. And not just one small dog as you will often find in Anglesey holiday accommodation. We allow up to three of your furry family members to stay in our dog friendly cottage in Anglesey, meaning you never have to leave anyone behind.

With a dog friendly beach on our doorstep, along with the Anglesey coastal path and coastline (much of which is declared an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) there are no shortage of walks to cater for all ages and abilities for both you and your four-legged friends.

The island always gives a warm welcome to pets with many of the pubs, restaurants and cafes providing dog-friendly areas and menus. You might even find a few dedicated doggie play parks too.

Here is our guide to the best dog friendly things to do in Anglesey.

As policies change it’s wise to always check local regulations and specific venue policies regarding dogs before planning your activities.

There are 42 dog-friendly beaches in easy distance of our dog friendly holiday cottage in Anglesey, The Old Post Office at Bull Bay. Here are some of Anglesey’s top dog friendly beaches. Note: be sure to check the current regulations which may change in the busier months of May – September.

Rhosneiger and Aberffraw – one of the best beaches for stretches of beautiful white sands and calm clear, waters. Rhosneiger is dog friendly all year round. It is close to local amenities and there is a popular restaurant, the Oyster Catcher, which specialises in seafood, right on the beach. You can walk along through the Dunes to Aberffraw – another quiet, scenic, dog friendly beach that’s tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the more touristy beaches.

Bull Bay – right on our cottage doorstep, Bull Bay also known as Porth Llechog a rockier beach than many in Anglesey, Bull Bay is dog friendly all year round. There is an abundance of rock pools providing hours of fun searching for sea creatures of all sizes. In the right weather you might also spot some seals and porpoises!

WALKIES TIME – DOG FRIENDLY COASTAL WALKS (OR LEISURELY AMBLES) IN ANGLESEY

When you stay at our dog friendly holiday cottage in Anglesey, a chance to explore the beautiful coastal paths is all around you. The Anglesey Coastal Path offers stunning views of the coastline, and many sections are dog friendly. Just be sure to check local guidelines for specific areas where dogs are allowed off-leash.

Some of our favourite walks along the coastal path include:

Bull Bay to Porth Wen – a three-mile circular walk with spectacular views that takes in the disused Porth Wen Brickworks, a fascinating industrial site with abandoned buildings and coastal scenery. Although there are sections along this walk where you can allow your pup to roam, it's recommended to keep them on a leash at the brickworks site. This is an accessible walk suitable for most fitness levels.

Bull Bay to Cemaes – fancy something a little more challenging? This route from Bull Bay to Cemaes takes around four and a half hours to complete and has a few steep areas where good fitness levels are required. It’s completely worthwhile however, as you’ll take in some of the island’s best views and it’s a quiet route, where your dog can be off lead in sections. The smaller beach at Cemaes Bay is dog-friendly all year round.
