If you are looking for things to do in Anglesey, you won’t be disappointed. Anglesey has so much to offer, especially if you want to get out and about. Anglesey has it all - stunning landscapes, unspoilt coastlines, and picturesque towns and villages that are just waiting to be explored. Miles of scenic walks lie waiting to be explored on the Isle of Anglesey Coastal Path, which is literally on our doorstep!

Cycle paths are plentiful, and Anglesey has some of the best water-based activities to offer, from sailing at Plas Menai to some of the best sea fishing for miles around. Our fabulous beaches offer something for everyone – vast stretches of sand, safe swimming for the kids and windswept bays where a bracing walk and rock pooling are the order of the day.

Much of our coastline has been declared an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), and with that comes an abundance of flora and fauna to be discovered; you won't be disappointed.

We have compiled some ideas for activities in Anglesey that will suit the whole family. Plus, they are all near the Anglesey holiday cottage, The Old Post Office, Bull Bay.

Bull Bay Circular Walks.jpg

Bull Bay Circular Walk

The area’s low cliffs dominate this walk, and Anglesey’s dramatic northern Coast Path makes up half the route. The views from the
headland at Trwyn bychan over Porth Wen with its ruined brickworks on the far side are sublime. The outward leg across farmland offers a fascinating contrast to your return’s wild coastline.

Golf in Anglesey

Nearby is the Bull Bay Gold Club. Few places can rival the spectacular setting of this established, 18-hole, championship course. Laid out above the rugged coastline on the beautiful holiday island of Anglesey, every tee commands panoramic views over the Isle of Anglesey to the mountains of Snowdonia, or over the Irish Sea to the Isle of Man, or even to the distant hills of the Lake District. This Herbert Fowler-designed course climbs and falls, twists and turns, through valleys and on plateaus, between rocky outcrops and areas of gorse – a spectacular setting for a memorable game of golf. The nature of the land and the mild climate offer year-round golf, whilst the modern Clubhouse, with its superb facilities, guarantees every visitor a very warm welcome and excellent value for money.

Anglesey Golf Club is located at Rhosneigr, the only links course on the island of Anglesey, and offers a fascinating, at times challenging, course that appeals to golfers of all abilities. With par 68 from the yellow tees and par 70 from the whites and reds, set amongst the dunes of Rhosneigr there is much to keep both golfers and visitors well and truly amused. With Rhosneigr being a popular holiday destination, the Club offer special deals for summer golf, with attractive weekly rates and a special rate for July and August. In addition, they have a variety of Open Competitions that are perfect for a golf break in Anglesey.

Heritage Activities in Anglesey

The island of Anglesey is rich in history and offers several heritage properties to explore. National Trust Houses and Gardens include: -

Plas- Newydd Country House & Gardens is a Grade 1 listed house and garden situated on the banks of the Menai Strait.

Aberconwy House is a second-hand bookshop in a 14th-century merchant's house.

Penrhyn Castle Bangor is a fantasy castle with industrial and colonial foundations.

Anglesey Abbey, Lode Mill & Gardens is a Jacobean-style house with gardens and watermill.

Other unusual places to visit would be the stunning lighthouses around the Island. There are five lighthouses operational around the coast of Anglesey. They are at Trwyn Du in the southeast, Point Lynas in the northeast, The Skerries off the northwest coast, South Stack in the northwest, and Holyhead, also northwest. In addition, redundant lighthouses are evident along the coast, including two on Llanddwyn Island (Ynys Llanddwyn).

South Stack Lighthouse and visitor centre is only 28 miles from The Old Post Office, Bull Bay.  The historic South Stack Lighthouse is located on a small island reached via a descent of 400 steps down the steep mainland cliffs.

Visitors may tour the former lighthouse engine room before climbing to the top of the lighthouse. South Stack is a wonderful place to watch thousands of breeding seabirds, including guillemots, razorbills and puffins.

We do recommend booking South Stack Lighthouse tours in advance, and be ready for lots of steps…
