About the Cottage

If you are enchanted by the sea and all the activities associated with it, plus a love of coastal walks, Bull Bay makes a super base to fulfil your dreams of walking around an entire island, Bull Bay, or Porth Llechog in Welsh, which means "sheltered bay", is a picturesque seaside village on the northern coast of the Isle of Anglesey.  Which has remoteness, dramatic scenery and plenty of history  – here is just one suggestion to make you clean of those walking boots :- The Bull Bay Circular Walk to Porth Wen.   An easy circular walk from the village of Bull Bay  providing a bite sized section of the coastal path. Follow the coastal path as far as Porth Wen and the disused brick factory, returning on footpaths across farmland.  The coast here is rugged, with no sandy bays along the walk but plenty of rocky coast to make up for it.  Visit the Circular Routes on The Anglesey Coast download the printable leaflet for the route here.

In addition, redundant lighthouses are evident around the coast, including two at Llanddwyn Island, Ynys Llanddwyn.

Bull Bay is a village and bay on the northern coast of Anglesey, Wales. Its Welsh name, Porth Llechog, means "sheltered bay". The English name is derived from Pwll y Tarw ("the bull's pool"), which is located near the shore close to the bay.

The village is located on the A5025. It is the most northerly village in Wales and also contains Wales' most northerly golf course which was opened and funded by a local aristocrat in 1913. The island of East Mouse lies within the bay, the coastline of which is rocky and contains many caves. Some of these rocks are over 570 million years old which make them amongst the oldest in Wales.

The Old Post Office is situated as near to the sea as is possible, with direct access to the Isle of Anglesey Coastal Path which falls within a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) which covers 95% of the coast. Directly to the front of the cottage is a slipway so boat lovers can sail to their hearts content!

The cottage dates back to the mid 19th century and was, as the name suggests, the Old Post Office but in earlier times was a fishermans cottage.
